Please note that due to the current coronavirus pandemic we will not be issuing early, extra or additional prescriptions in line with local guidance and advice. We are also strongly encouraging the use of Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) for all our prescriptions and ordering via our online service providers to help reduce the risk of handling paper prescriptions.

Please check at reception, your local pharmacy or NHS website for further details.

You can request a repeat prescription using the options below. The easiest way to request a repeat prescription is Online. Our Online Services can help you request repeat medication at your convenience with automated delivery of your prescription to your preferred pharmacy. It will show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need. Please visit the Apps section below to access Online Services.

You may also complete the Webform via the website to request a repeat prescription.

Note: The NHS App allows you to get registered by setting up an NHS account online and without the need to visit the practice.

FAQs

Can I order medications by calling the practice?

No, prescriptions cannot be ordered verbally by calling the practice.

Do I need to Register every time I request a prescription?

No, this only needs to be done the first time that you use the service. When collecting login details please bring a form of ID with you

Will I receive an email confirming receipt of my request?

No, you will not receive an email, but the system stores a history of everything you ordered.

Can I use my email address for more than one family member?

To keep patient's records secure each patient will need their own login and password.

Why can I not see all my medication on the repeat medication list?

The doctor who prescribed your medication will decide whether it will be listed as a repeat medication on your records. This is a safety issue to ensure you are reviewed appropriately before any further medication is prescribed for you. If it is appropriate for you to order further prescriptions of the medication online it will be available for you to see and order when you login.

How long will my prescription take to be issued?

We do ask that you allow 3 working days for prescription requests, but this may take longer if your GP is part-time or on leave or there is a problem with the request.

Emergency Medication

We ask that you fill out an Emergency prescription request. (During COVID please use e-consult to do this of drop a letter in our letter box) On this form we ask your reasons for needing an Emergency prescription in less than 2 working days. We also ask that you name a nominated chemist we can electronically send the prescription to.

Please do not request Emergency prescriptions through the chemist as they will send a repeat through and will not have all the information we require.

Please be aware that this request may be turned down by the GP if a patient regularity requests an Emergency supply of medication, regularly orders medication early or their medication review is overdue.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication

Ensure that you have included your full name and address and a contact telephone number.
Be precise with medication
Detail exactly the strengths
Indicate if you intend to collect your prescriptions from the surgery (indicate which site) or a chemist.
Allow 3 working days for your prescription to be processed, but this may take longer if your GP is part-time or on leave or there is a problem with the request.
